You always hurt the ones you love, or so the story goes. This is a song about so called "friendly fire"..Friendly fire is an attack by a military force on friendly forces while attempting to attack the enemy, either by misidentifying the target as hostile, or due to errors or inaccuracy. Another term for this is "Blue On Blue". This is about the same thing only between a couple.
