Blues Don't Love You

from Strange Brew by Keith Thompson Band

about

This is a bit deep this! It kind of wrote itself and I am aware that it could mean something different to different people. For me, "The Blues" in this song is referring to evil or darkness and depression and personalizing it into a "devil" kind of figure. It is said that the devil can appear as an angel of light. So it would seem that a road could be open that looks great but is a trap! Maybe it's another way of saying "All that glitters is not gold"

lyrics

Blues Don’t Love You – Keith Thompson

I try to tell you but you won’t listen to me
If you walk in the darkness, you’ll be in misery
I know you don’t know you’re in it
You just have to take my word for it
But if you walk out of my loving you won’t be able to see

Stuck at the crossroads, between the devil and the deep blue sea
Well a spoonful of sugar won’t be enough to set you free
And then he’ll come to tempt you, then he’ll only resent you
‘Cos you could give him everything that you’ve got
And he’ll only reject you.

The blues don’t love you
About you he don’t really care
And if you live in his domain
Then he’s got you in his snare
I know you don’t believe it
That’s just how you perceive it
You’ve got to take hold of my love that will relieve it
Get him out of your hair.
