Sadly this song never ceases to be relevant. It came to me after watching the latest horrendous TV news bulletin about human suffering. I got to the point where I was overloaded and was becoming immune to hearing this kind of story everyday. I realize that is not good and that we should never grow too accustomed to human tragedy that we no longer have compassion.There is also a bit of frustration at politicians seeming lack of action. It's an observation, not giving any really answers, just a longing for a new beginning.

Won’t somebody tell me, what is happening here.
Television news broadcast the latest trail of fears
Children maimed by armies trained to kill in times of war
Colour pictures of misery, we’ve seen them all before
Change the channel watch a film of violence, the hero wins the race
The best part is when he smashes the gun into his enemies face
The next day in the newspapers, a child is murdered, first degree
And we say if we could catch that violator
We’d lock him up and throw away the key

Catch a ride to grace land, pay homage to the king
But we shot all our leaders; all our heroes deceived us

An Englishman’s home is his castle or is it really his cell

What we need today is to make a brand new start
What we need is love deeper than the human heart
What we need is someone to back up what he said
But if he lived today, we’d probably crucify him and leave him for dead
